19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He saved four early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
